Bullying around the globe

On Saturday, October 27th, 2012, a thirteen-year-old girl was found dead from an apparent suicide days after she had told her friends that she had been debating taking her own life. She was the third suicide victim in the month that had been attributed to cyberbullying. A few weeks previous, a fifteen-year- old was found dead as a result of constant harassment on an internet site called, ask.fm. Her body was found in a wooded area without a note. In an unrelated incident across the globe, another teen girl took her life as a result of bullying online. This was the most noticeable of the three deaths because the victim created a YouTube video portraying the abuse she encountered. It included claims of blackmail, stalking, assault and bullying. This video was seen over 14 million times online. In response to the newest of the suicides, family and friends created a facebook page as a tribute to her. The page offered condolences and also called for the website Ask.fm to be banned. Thousands have supported this claim and have written on the page.
